Translating since 15 years ago, I have enjoyed this job in my country: Mexico. Languages are my passion, everyday is necessary to read them, to hear them, to live them. With certifications in Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, French, Arabic and English my development in different institutions and schools has been improved. Bearing on anytime the roots and spirit of each language I have translated several documents or fragments in some of languages above mentioned.

Author review: Roberto has one of the most talented tongues I've ever encountered. Absolute gift for language. You can absolutely trust Roberto to choose the right words in his translations, regardless of the languages involved. Absolutely BRILLIANT. But. Roberto is poor at time management and project management. He takes on more work than he can handle at any given moment and estimates his time very poorly. Roberto's offered deadlines are rarely if ever accurate -- no matter how generously you try to pad the time, he will not finish on time. Instead of taking on one translation at a time and then finishing it quickly, he takes on five or ten at once. Besides being late, Roberto's habit of taking on too many projects has another side effect: he forgets to do work that is outside of the rhythm of what he is used to doing across all his translations. My books all feature appendices, each one with a very specific translation and formatting requirement. For example, I commonly feature songs that are in English, French, Latin, or German. The lyrics stay in the original in the text, but need to be translated to Spanish in the appendix set aside for it. on the music appendix for this book (His Red Eminence), Roberto forgot to translate over 80% of the songs to Spanish. On the other hand, the Latin prayer appendix was in his normal rhythm and so that appendix was done perfectly. Every author works different and every book has different needs. Roberto takes on so much work at once that he has lost his ability to adapt to those needs. Whereas a year or two ago his work was consistently flawless for me, that has declined with time; he simply doesn't remember the specifics he needs to do on the appendices to render them properly. The main text -- PERFECT -- but my books are 30% appendices. The more of this material one of my books contains, the less complete his final translations become. In summary, if you want a kick butt translator with a talented tongue: HIRE ROBERTO. But hire him with the caveat that he does his best work on books that are simple in structure (being non-fiction, mine are not) and completely open-ended in terms of when they need to be completed. Give Roberto your fictional masterpiece. But sadly, if you are non-fiction and use any special formatting or structure accordingly, Roberto might not be the best choice for you. |
