José Luis Palma is a Spanish cardiologist born in Córdoba (Spain). Along his life he alternates his medical work with his great passion: to write novels of modern fiction, historical fiction, biographies, short-stories and poems. His first novel: " El amor en los tiempos del chat " was a finalist of the Planeta Prize in 1999. In 2000 a second novel:" Hora y media a Manhattan " became also a finalist of the same Planeta Prize presented under the title of " La piel porosa del caracol".
In 1975 he was a member of General Franco's medical team until his death. About his experience on this dramatic processs, he wrote later: "El Paciente de El Pardo": (The long and unforseeable agony of General Franco) a bestseller inside and out of Spain. In summary; he is the author of eight long novels, several short-stories and somes poems. He has got several awards along his literary career. At present, he lives in Madrid where he continues with his usual writing activity. Also, he is now Vice-President of the Spanish Academy of Medical Writers.
