Good morning everyone, and welcome to my profile.

My name is Giovanni Luigi Fabbri, I am an Italian linguist, translator, and reviewer. I studied Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures in Bologna, Italy (my hometown) where I earned my degree, with a thesis exploring the translation of Dutch Culture Specific Elements Dutch into Italian. Currently I am about to finish a Master's Degree in Historical and Comparative Linguistics at the University of Pisa (Italy). In the past I also attended a course dealing with translation and the world of publishing companies. My main language pairings are English>Italian, Dutch>Italian, Catalan>Italian. Secondary language pairings are Spanish > Italian, French > Italian.

In the past I had various working experiences, most notably I had the opportunity to work as English teacher at a high school for two months, which I immediately took because I knew from my long experience as private language tutor that it would suit me well. Unfortunately, I was forced to leave that position ahead of schedule due to a degree problem which had gone unnoticed by the competent office at the signing of the contract.

My competence is grounded in my passions, namely linguistics, translation, sport and fitness, then history, anthropology, biology, neurosciences, music, and travelling.

I decided to join Babelcube because it seems a great opportunity for young, aspiring translators to test or improve their skills: it's more free than publishing companies, more flexible in terms of choice and topic.
