Argentine, 50 years old, 30 years in Education. Reader, movies fan. I love translating.
So many people consider their work a daily punishment whereas I love my work as a translator. Translation is a journey over a sea from one shore to the other. Sometimes I think of myself as a smuggler: I cross the frontier of language with my booty of words, ideas, images and metaphors. (Amara Lakous)

Author review: Translator ran over the time agreement and the said she needed more time, which I granted. I had readers waiting for the translation who were asking me how much longer, so I sent her a few emails to ask if she could give me an idea of when she'd be finished, but she did not respond. I had to have Babelcube contact her. She responded to them right away and she told them she was too busy to finish the job and that she only said she'd translate it because I pressured her to do it. I didn't pressure her. I asked and then agreed to wait several months before she even started it because I assumed she was a qualified and reliable translator. The translation agreement with her took my book off the translation list for months and left fans who were waiting for it to be available in Spanish very disappointed. As was I. Now, I have to start all over and hope I haven't lost those readers because they feel I told false about the book being translated. I'm very surprised at her behavior considering the number of stars by her name. |
