Sixteen-year-old Noah Fletcher has a lot on his mind. He’s gay, and his best friend hates him for it. So does the rest of his high school. What they don't know is that he has the ability to talk to and understand all the animals on earth.
Despite his mother’s full support and his animal friends, he can’t help but feel lonely until popular cheerleader, Candy Bloom, sticks up for him publicly. He is happy to have her on his side, but there’s something strange about Candy. She seems to know more than she should. Somehow, she knows about his secret power and warns him about what's coming next...an alien invasion.
The question is, how are they going to stop it? And who else will join them on their mission?
Unfortunately, the book is not very popular; it has not made any sort of dent in the market. This is mostly my fault, because I failed to promote the book effectively. I'm working on it, though, and I'm hoping my book being translated into Spanish will help give it the attention it deserves. I speak Spanish fluently, so it'd be easy to advertise from there. Nevertheless, I believe I've already sold a little more than 200 copies. It's also worth mentioning that I have gained quite a few decent connections over the years with more well-known LGBT writers.
Noah heard a distinct popping noise that sounded like someone stomping on bubble wrap. He changed his path of trajectory. In a random attempt to throw the teleporter off, he ran as fast as he could until he rammed into a human body. “Ahhhh!” Noah screamed like a little girl, falling to the ground with someone hooked to his body. He dreaded the sensation of teleportation again.
“Noah calm down, it’s just me!”
“Candy?” he stammered frantically, pulling himself up before helping her. Glad to see her, once he got over the surprise, he still worried about Chris. On edge again, he huffed, trying to catch a breath. “Chris is out to get me,” he said, and, holding onto her for dear life, gasped, “Teleporting hurts, can’t get caught!”
“You get used to it after a while,” she said calmly. “But that’s not why I’m here.”
Chris popped in next to them, his face twisted into an evil sneer. Pleased to see Noah cower, he howled, “I told you I would – hey babe,” he said once he noticed Candy, and, dropping the façade, he reverted to the good guy Chris. “We were just racing.”
“No time for lies,” Candy said, frantic when she remembered her latest premonition. “We have to get out of here, now.” Feeling the familiar yet peculiar vibration throughout her body, Candy prepared herself for the swift trip back. “We’ve got to run, like right now. Chris, teleport us out.” “Why?” he asked, suspicious. Not fond of taking orders without a good reason, even from his girlfriend, he stalled.
Without warning, a heavy wind rushed in and unleashed its power with such force it ripped cornstalks from the earth and corncobs shot around the field like bottle-rockets.
