I'm Abdel-Aziz Sourou ALI OROU. I was born on January 25th, 1982 in Zogbodomey, Republic of Benin. I am a Paratroopers Battalion Officer and I am currently assigned at Benin Armed Forces Headquarters. Previously, I was the Executive Officer of the 121st Company at the Paratroopers Battalion and Training Officer/English Language Instructor at Benin National Officers Academy (ENO), a local military academy that host cadets from at least eleven African French speaking countries - Benin, Burkina-Faso, Central African Republic, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Niger, Mali, Senegal and Togo. I joined Benin Armed Forces as an Air Force specialist in 2002 and graduated from the French Air Force Non-commissioned Officers Academy of Rochefort (Charente-Maritime) as an Avionics specialist in 2004. Later, I took a Basic officer training at Benin National Officers Academy of Toffo (2006-2008) and was promoted First-Lieutenant in 2009 after completing the Officer Leadership Course at Benin Higher Military Training Academy (ENSA) of Porto-Novo. I am a graduate of the Maneuver Captains Career Course 3-10 Class, Fort Benning, Columbus, GA, USA (December 2010) and also a graduate of Lackland AFB Defense Language Institute, San Antonio, Texas, USA : professional language training in 2009 and 2010, Basic American Language Instructor Course (BALIC) in 2013. I have been promoted to the rank of Captain in 2015. So far, I have two United Nations deployments: the first as the Benin battalion's Military Public Information Officer at MONUSCO (2011-2012) and the second as Benin battalion's Chief of Operations (G3) at ONUCI (2015-2016). Besides these career-related trainings and achievement, I hold a French <> English Translator Certification from the Portand, Oregon-based Global Translation Institute (2010) and a Bachelor Degree in Corporate Communication (2012), As a grooming published writer, two of my articles in English are: ''The Battle of Adwa '' (U.S. Army Infantry Magazine, November-December 2011 Issue PB 7-11-5) and “Languages for Peace: Linguistic Diversity Contribution to International Peace’ (calameo.com, 2013). My first book published in May 2017 entitled “Succeed in English <> French Translation Exam" is a handbook designed to help French and English speaking defense and security forces personnel as well civilian scholars and students in their quest of mastery of the techniques and methods governing the translation exam.
