I am Rafael, from Brazil. When I was 18, I started teaching English as a second language to Brazilian adults and children. Since then, my life has been all about learning and teaching languages. I've graduated in German and Portuguese Studies at the biggest and most renowned university in Brazil (Universidade de São Paulo) and there I got to know what the world of translation was really like. Something completely different from the bilingual dictionaries I used to use to help me out when teaching. And there I fell in love for this cultural transference that happens when you translate an idea from one language to another.
I am also a passionate writer. However, I have never had the guts to finish my book. Maybe one day I will be able to follow your example and actually do it. But, right now, I am focused on helping other writers expand their already-finished projects. On my website pages you’ll find a blog page where I have already posted some of the translations I’ve been doing. One from English and another from German, both into Portuguese. I have currently been translating a bunch of German legends and myths from a book called “Das große deutsche Sagenbuch”.
Fantasy and children literature are the ones I enjoy the most, but I would love to adventure myself in other genres and complexities. I will never forget the job I once had, to translate am assembling unit manual from German to English. That was a very interesting experience! So, bottom line is, from children’s book to industrial manuals, I am here for you!

Author review: Rafael provided and exceptional translation and it was a great pleasure to work with him; he went above and beyond to ensure that he completely understood the concepts and turns of phrase he was translating, and I highly recommend his services. |
