Freelance translator, proofreader, columnist and news reporter with 20 years of experience.

Even though I do not hold a degree (but did waste my time at the University of Lisbon [History] and at Open University [European Studies] before devoting myself to freelance journalism), I have been translating texts for journals, newspapers, book publishers, websites, and blogs since I was 15 years old. Overall, I have over 20 years’ experience as a writer and translator. Translated a few well known authors, although I'm not sure if I can list them here under Babelcube's guidelines.

I translate from English and Spanish into European Portuguese. I was born and raised on the island of Fayal (Azores Archipelago) and moved to Lisbon in 2002. I've been translating and writing for print media since the glory days of Do It Yourself zines (punk, heavy metal, comics) and my school newspaper.

I wrote a weekly column for a Portuguese weekly newspaper and do freelance work as a translator, proofreader, and news reporter, and do publishing on the side (academic non-fiction). Dealing mostly with non-fiction and mainstream authors on my day job, I'm looking mostly for books out of the ordinary (supernatural, fantasy, horror, sci fi, erotica, preppers, fringe science, et cetera) and I usually translate an average of half to a full a page (standard 6x9) per day to make sure my mainstream translations don't fall behind and you have a realistic deadline, but be aware that sometimes a journal or a newspaper may need an urgent translation and under contractual obligation I have to give it priority, hence my usual 60 to 90 days deadline. I use a pen name for most works.
