NADIA BOULANGER´S LIVING
Nadia enters the space in silence. She’s an elegant mature woman aged 65 but looking 10 years younger. She’s dressed with a dark suit and a fair shirt. White haired, she wears light framed eyeglasses, has brilliant eyes and serene gaze. She sits on the piano and plays Monteverdi.Astor enters carrying the heavy suitcase. He looks around and stares at Nadia playing the piano. Suddenly, captivated by the music, he lets the suitcase fall on the floor. Nadia stops playing, turns around, gets up and goes to meet Astor in a friendly manner.
ASTOR
“Excusez-moi, Madame”.
NADIA
Not Madame, please. Call me Mademoiselle, or else, just Nadia. You’re Astor Piazzolla, aren’t you?
ASTOR
“Oui, Mademoiselle”.
Nadia makes a gesture, inviting Astor to seat. On his way Astor is distracted by a noise and begins to watch a certain spot on the floor
NADIA
Don’t you worry about my cat. He’s always scratching the curtains. But I won’t cut his nails. It’s the only thing he has to defend himself.
Nadia seats and suggests Astor do the same
NADIA
Can we talk in English? Or do you prefer French?
ASTOR
English is fine.
NADIA
All right. Monsieur Piazzolla, to be able to help you I need to know about you, not only your music. So, I’ll be asking some questions. Is that all right with you?
ASTOR
It’s fine with me.
NADIA
One shouldn’t devote oneself to music unless you’ll die if you don’t do it. Are you in this predicament?
ASTOR
Absolutely Mademoiselle. My head is full of music. My life is music.
NADIA
Tell me, Monsieur. Why do you want to study?
ASTOR
