Master's Graduate in European Studies with a Bachelor Degree in Languages, Linguistics and Cultural Studies

Thomas ozbun

My name is Thomas Ozbun and I'm a joint-degree master graduate from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland) and the Université de Strasbourg (France). My studies consisted of an interdisciplinary approach including classes in EU law, Political Science, International Relations, Foreign Relations, History, Cultural Studies etc.
I’m a dual citizen of Italy and the US, with a strong academic background and a passion for romance languages and linguistics. I’m fluent in English, Italian and Portuguese and I’m a confident speaker of Spanish and French. I also have a basic understanding of Polish.
I consider myself a very well-travelled individual. I’ve lived, studied and worked in 6 different countries throughout my life (Italy, USA, Portugal, Poland, Germany and France) and I’ve trekked extensively around Europe and North America.
Mentoring children and young adults studying abroad has been a passion of mine for many years. In 2014 I worked as a summer camp counsellor for the Colegio Luso Internacional in Porto, Portugal. In this role, I acted both as an English language teacher and as a supervisor during afternoon extracurriculars. In 2016 instead I worked for AISPAL, a language school in Padua, Italy, specialized in mentoring young adults wishing to obtain language certifications. I also worked as a Quality Manager for AIESEC, and monitored university students volunteering abroad. In this position I kept in touch with about 25 volunteers every week, made sure that they filled out some surveys about their experience overseas and acted as a medium between them and their organizations.
Other work skills I’m proud of include familiarity with event management and social media engagement. During college breaks, I’ve also worked as a tour group leader in my hometown of Vicenza, supporting U.S. military personnel stationed abroad in their transition to life in Italy. I toured local sights with these groups, taught them basic cultural and social norms and helped them navigate public transportation.
Professionally, I’m a good communicator and an excellent team player. I like multitasking and I don’t mind facing challenging situations. I’m usually very calm and quick thinking in stressful or critical circumstances.
