Some poets play translation because we love to be the bridge between two cultures or two worlds, being faithful to the letters. -MZ

Mirka zarazúa

My name is Mirka Zarazúa Medrano, I will be 24 this year, I have just finished a degree in Modern Languages in French with a terminal line in Translation and Literature with official certification of French B2. I grew up immersed in the vagaries of the working class that pushed me to devote myself more to work than to studies in my early ages, completing my middle school and high school studies remotely. Since 14 I had all kinds of jobs like laundries, cellphone stores, waitress, bike delivery, cleaning houses, kitchen for restaurants among others that allowed to born in me a deep sense of responsibility and especially a perspective of the world in which I had nothing easy, because I grew up in an environment unfortunately dysfunctional with deficiencies that made me dedicate to work and in those times "to the church". Despite everything, I always kept in me the passion for arts and letters, believed that although I did not know much about numbers the world could be measured by letters and that they had the power to change the world; It is for this reason that I save my watercolors for my personal expression to choose a bachelor of letters degree instead of fine arts. I chose French because at a very young age I had a strong attraction to know different cultures than mine, understand how they speak and how they understand the world. Definitely, I found what I was looking for, because in my career I discovered through this language hundreds of cultures around Africa and all over the world that share the language by the wound of colonialism. Understanding their history and language I understood better mine and realized that we were not so different, I understood how the privileges had determined her existence as well as mine and especially how my experience, as a Mexican brunette working-class woman, inevitably determines my world. Because of this great passion for these subjects and letters, I successfully completed my studies with an average of 9.3 taking extra courses on editing and any contest that crossed by during my career. In the middle of my career, I was forced to continue my studies without any family support, including leaving my parents' house to pay for my living income and food while continuing my studies and working as a distance French teacher and then as a general employee from a taco restaurant. I consider that in this presentation I try to show my determination and commitment to otherness, my deep empathy with the deficiencies and experiences foreign to mine that I can translate, I am a very professional person who will give the best in this job, I identify myself as a feminist, anarchist, but above all, as a person who believes with all the heart that we are building a better world with critical thinking, humanities and letters.
