I have loved reading since I was very young. However, I have to admit I got a little distracted for a few years by some "more fun" activities, such as playing with my friends and watching videos on youtube.
But then I rediscovered my passion for reading when I was around 12 years old when my sister bought a lot of books for herself, including A Court of Throns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. This was a great find for me: a whole new world. A magical and imaginitive world. I immediately fell in love with all that fantasy. Then I started to read similar series. It quickly became an important part of my life and I could spend countless hours reading and thinking about books. And of course I like other genres too. But none of them are as captivating to me as fantasy literature.
I've had a difficult time trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I took vocational tests, started a degree in Psychology in a local university and worked a few months in my sister's clothing store. But all these things never felt right for me.
I understand that most people don't get a chance to work with something that brings them joy. Therefore, I have the knowledge that I'm very fortunate. My parents worked extremely hard everyday so I could have a better life than they did and be able to choose what to work with. And for that reason, I'm truly grateful.
Today, I'm excited to start a career in editorial translation, which merges two of my greatest passions: literature and languages. I am looking forward to connect Brazilian readers with other cultures. I might be too unrealistic for this, but I really hope I can make a difference in someone's life.
