Hello, 

My name is Laura and I am a native English translator and proofreader living and working in Dorset, on the south coast of the UK. 

I studied German and Italian at Oxford University and graduated with First Class Honours. I went on to further study gaining another First Class Honours degree in Psychology and a diploma in Publishing. I worked for many years in academic book publishing at OUP and Blackwell in Oxford, UK. 

I translate from German and Italian into English and also proofread for many overseas and UK clients. My particular specialisms are the humanities, music, art and literature.

From as far back as I remember, my twin passions have been languages and books. As a child, I read widely and constantly, nothing was beyond my remit. As an adult, I continue to read just about anything, with a real enthusiasm for anything in translation which might teach me something about the world beyond our shores. The joy of reading and the feeling of immersion in a different reality is something precious that I try to instil into my own children at every opportunity
