Fully bilingual English/Spanish with special interest in Sci-fi and other novels involving technical topics and social evolution.

Born in Mexico City, attended school in the US from a young age and then studied in Scotland. I finished my high school education at the American School in México City, obtained a Bachelor in Biology with a specialty in hydrobiology from the Univesidad Metropolitana and completed my Master´s Degree in Education with a specialty in Cognitive Development from the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey. I also have partial studies in the Master´s in BA.
I have done multiple translation work in various technical areas including medical, manuals for textile industry, biology text books and some for small businesses. Also, I have had the opportunity to work as interpreter in both simultaneous and consecutive settings.
I currently teach ESL and Master´s level classes in translation and second language acquisition at the Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca, Morelos, but I´m in the process of making a change in my life style,  focusing on literary translation in an area I love: Science Fiction.
I believe the best proof of one´s abilities is a practical demonstration. I would be glad to submit to any test in this regard.
 
 As with most things nowadays, time is of the essence, but I firmly believe that in the matter of correct translation of literary texts, working intimately with the author is the key to proper projection of meaning.​ I´ve had many unpalatable experiences trying to read translated works from English to Spanish, specially sci-fi where, apparently the “good translators” (those who translate the classics) apparently don´t want to - or deare to – tread.
