After my studies Greek-Latin in secondary school I wanted to become a translator/interpreter, so I studied French, Spanish and Dutch translation at the Lessius Hogeschool in Antwerp, where I learned the basis of another foreign language too, modern Greek. During my studies I went to Barcelona as an Erasmus exchange student, where I extended my language knowledge by learning Catalan. My doctoral thesis was a partial translation plus comments of the Argentinian comic '10 años con Mafalda'.
I have worked - and still work - in a few international companies as a customer support coordinator with responsibility for French and Spanish speaking customers, where I have been speaking foreign languages constantly. I have also been a language teacher.
Later I did some additional specific language trainings, one to be a (business) language trainer and another one for translation for television (subtitling).
In 2004 I became a certified translator and interpreter French/Spanish/Dutch. In 2011 I started working on a freelance basis in my own translation bureau Translat. I like working in various specialization fields, which is for me an extra challenge in my translation work.
