Lover of great literature. Period. I stand in awe of world greats, Thomas Mann and George Eliot. I love South African writers Damon Galgut, Karel Schoeman and Ivan Vladisavic. But besides the great literature of the canon, I also enjoy the work of successful writers of popular fiction from Patricia Highsmith through to Ray Bradbury.
I am keen to translate works of fiction from Afrikaans into English, and also from Dutch, German and French into English. I published a translation of a Eugene Marais short story in 3AM (called The Sunrise Murder). My experience is mostly in practical, day-to-day translation that helps pay the bills: financial and legal material, medical reports, employment contracts ... that kind of thing. I am very excited to be on Babelcube and looking forward to some meaningful, and possibly life-changing translation engagements!
