My Bio
Chasity is a native of Crossett, Arkansas, but has been a resident of the Midwest for about fourteen years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Oklahoma City University in the fall of 1999, she moved to Michigan and began her teaching career. She was an employee of the Ann Arbor Public Schools for seven years where she taught 3rd and 5th grades, respectively. In 2006, Chasity met and married her husband, Terrence. She is the proud mother of two boys, Donovan and Joshua.
Chasity knew that there was a purpose and higher calling to her life that surpassed being a classroom teacher. After prayerful consideration, she resigned from her career as a teacher in May of 2007. The following six years have been spent in dedicating her time to her family and seeking God concerning further direction for her life. Chasity always knew that in addition to education, writing has always been a passion. Little did she know that there would be an unfortunate turn of events that would make this more of a reality.
Chasity returned to school in the summer of 2013 to complete a master's program in Educational Leadership. A month after starting school, her husband received a pink slip from his position of six years. However, Chasity was determined to complete her degree within the time frame that was originally set by her academic advisor. She remained in school through the financial hardship and a four month stay in a homeless shelter with her family. Chasity graduated in May of 2014 with a 3.9GPA and plans to pursue a career in school administration.
Chasity is also the author of a new book entitled, "Broken for the Promise” that chronicles a difficult journey after discovering that she was pregnant with her second child, Joshua. She faced a deadly disease, homelessness, and many other hardships that she has since overcome in life. Chasity has taken this opportunity to build a speaking platform that conveys a message of hope and healing to her audience. She has also started a blog on WordPress called “Hands Are For Healing” where she reflects on many other painful experiences that have been conquered through the power of grace. Chasity resides in Toledo, Ohio with her family.
