I am currently not taking on any new translations.
I am a Canadian writer currently living in Berlin. I have been translating Spanish for a few years now, but I haven't had the opportunity to do any literary translations. I recently passed the entrance exam to join STIBC (the Society of Translators & Interpreters of BC) as an associate member. In my opinion, the most important quality of a translator is that they be a good writer, and I believe I am that. I have lots of publishing credits, both in newspapers and literary magazines. I was long-listed for a CBC Creative Nonfiction award a few years back.
I'm looking to translate books that have very good Spanish (or French) sales. My interest in terms of subject matter is pretty broad: literary, sci-fi, women's fiction, thriller, mystery, anything as long as it's well written. I'm looking forward to working with passionate and talented writers! Ben.
