A bookworm since childhood and a traveler, I've been reading and writing stories for a long time. My best friends are the ones who talk too much. My house is always loaded with books and magazines and electronic devices with ebooks and subscriptions. I'm one of those that's always buying more books than I'm capable to read, but one has to keep hope, right? From Sandman comics to Tolkien's Fantasy, Asimov's Science Fiction to Douglas Adams' Funny Science, from Juan José Millá's perspective of the world to Mia Couto's fantastic way of using the Portuguese language, I guess I love stories too much, in any language I can understand them.
Right now, the list includes Portuguese (I'm Brazilian, but currently reading a lot from African authors), Spanish and English, but I once read a book in Italian and liked it.
Born in Northeastern Brazil, I grew up understanding people on TV spoke in a different way, but wrote the same. Living in Europe for 7 years, I learned Spanish and fell in love with Continental Portuguese. After studying English for more than 20 years, I came to live in the United States, and now I understand what it feels like to live in a TV show.
Author of self-published books Inverdades (2010) and Elas e outras historias (2007), I also have stories published in collections such as Universo Desconstruído (2013), A morte secreta dos sonhos roubados e outros contos (2014) and others. I've been blogging and publishing my words since 2003, mostly in Portuguese.
I write for a living, but most of the time, for brands and companies. Translator and advertising copywriter with several years of experience in Brazil, Spain, LatAm and US Hispanic market, with extensive experience in a broad set of industries, including technology, computers, auto, finance, consumer packaged goods, alcoholic beverages, travel, B2B, software and startups. My advertising curriculum is on LinkedIn.
If you want to talk about how stories (or advertising) gets adapted from English or Spanish into Brazilian Portuguese, just hit me up. Or just to chat about stories. After all, if I'm reading something, I'm happy.

Author review: He did a good job with a rather unorthodox story told in an experimental sort of way. |
