THE SOCIETY, GENESIS by Radu Niculescu

GENESIS

A Time-Bending Epic that Redefines Creation

The society, genesis

In The Society, Volume 3, Genesis, Alex embarks on an extraordinary journey 7,000 years into the future, arriving in a parallel universe where he meets his alternate self, Radu. Entrusted with a monumental task, Alex and a team of explorers—both human and artificial—venture into a newly formed universe. Their destination: Aterra, a barren planet awaiting the spark of life.
Tasked with seeding and safeguarding the evolution of an entire world, Alex witnesses the grand unfolding of existence over nearly a billion years. As Aterra endures cosmic upheavals—asteroid impacts, magnetic shifts, ice ages, and drifting continents—Alex and his team must navigate the fine balance between intervention and observation, ensuring that life finds its course.
A breathtaking odyssey through time, space, and the very essence of creation, Genesis explores humanity’s place in the cosmos and the profound responsibility of those who wield the power to shape it.

Genesis is nothing short of breathtaking. This third volume in The Society series takes the story to a whole new level—7,000 years into the future and into the heart of creation itself. Watching Alex meet his alternate self and journey with a diverse team to seed life on a barren planet was awe-inspiring.

The concept of witnessing nearly a billion years of evolution, while grappling with the ethical tension of interference versus observation, had me completely hooked. The writing is rich, philosophical, and full of wonder. It made me reflect on our own world, our place in the universe, and what it truly means to create.

This isn’t just science fiction—it’s a deep meditation on life, purpose, and responsibility. A magnificent conclusion (or is it a beginning?) to a brilliant trilogy. If you love thought-provoking journeys that blend science, spirit, and heart, this book will leave you in awe

Chapter IV

First day

We woke up at the same time. As I had mentioned before, these people had an obsession with capsules. The doors of the capsules opened, and we stared at each other in astonishment. We both had our original Earth bodies, but we were very young—no more than thirty years old.

– This has Cristina’s touch, I said. They cloned their bodies. It must have been hard to get approval for this.

– I’ll make sure you won’t forget us - that’s what Cristina said the night you left, Cris added.

– I wonder if the other bodies we have are also clones of our originals.

– We’ll find out. For now, let’s get dressed and see what’s here.

We got dressed and started exploring the ship. We encountered a few droids who greeted us before going about their tasks. I didn’t recognize all of them - only four I had interacted with alongside Radu. We wandered through the ship’s maze-like corridors until we reached the control room. It was an enormous space filled with dozens of holograms. A massive, semi-circular window, over a hundred meters long and ten meters tall, offered a breathtaking view of the planet. We were face to face with Aterra.

– Where’s the rest of the crew? I asked. How long have you been here?

– The rest are still in stasis. We’ve been here for four hundred thousand years already. Do you want me to wake them?

I glanced at Cris in shock. I had forgotten how differently time flowed here compared to our own dimension.

– Not yet. Who is in charge now? I asked.

– I am, came the reply. My name is Stephan.

– Good, I said. Can you give me a brief overview of the situation? What’s the state of Aterra?
