The Secret of Hunter Mountain by Julie Anne Stratton

Sarah & Gerlinde go on a quest to find the lost Templar treasure in the US

The secret of hunter mountain

For the fans of The DaVinci Code and The Discovery of Witches: two modern women following an ancient Goddess faith find themselves on a quest to discover a hidden Templar treasure and protect its knowledge from dark forces.

When an Austrian witch Gerlinde discovers a prophecy about a hidden Templar treasure in her 300-year-old Book of Shadows, she travels to America on a quest to find the sacred items. As Faith-Keeper of an ancient Goddess religion lost to history, it’s her calling to raise the divine feminine energies in the world.

The cryptic prophecy tells of early settlers who came to America to escape persecution from the Church, carrying with them the lost Templar secrets about the Grail, making peace with the First Nations people.

Gerlinde enlists the help of her cousin Sarah, an American photojournalist. Together, the women follow the book’s clues, starting at the North Eastern Women’s Herbal Festival and traveling to Hunter Mountain, NY and eventually to the Pacific Northwest.

While Sarah and Gerlinde discover many friends on their quest, they also find themselves hunted by a far-right Christian group who wants the Templar treasure for themselves. Can Gerlinde and Sarah discover the sacred elements before the worst happens?

Prologue

Austria, August 1, 2016

Dusk threw its cloak over the hills.

A group of five women ascended an old dirt path winding up the small mountain of Feldbach Kulm  heading towards an ancient, outdoor Celtic -museum. As they marched, stars popped out, illuminating the darkening sky. Each wore a cape, carrying baskets full of food, drink, firewood, and blankets. As Gerlinde led the way up to the top of the chiman , she carried a large scythe.

Halfway up, a small group of male hikers passed them going back down.

One yelled, “Going to have witches’ sabbath?”

The women laughed and called, “We’re taking back the night!”

The men hurried down the path, averting their eyes.

“Did they get spooked by our comment?” Brigit said, provoking  giggles and hoots from the others.

As Gerlinde placed one foot in front of the other, she mused on her mystical path ; being the Faith-Keeper of a Goddess based religion. Who doesn’t feel magic? Like when you gaze into a newborn’s eyes or sit on a beach observing the unending universe. Light and darkness at once, full of endless galaxies, and the great mystery itself, life.

I believe in an enchanted world.
