Sample text:

Ronnie knew all about the twins’ background and seemed eager to share every detail. We’d just left the classroom, and she was giving me a quick tour of the building. With each step she took, she spilled out more and more information. When we stopped by the bathroom on our way out to the courtyard, she took advantage of the empty space. Her rant continued. It was like a floodgate had opened, and an endless stream of gossip was rushing out. After a few minutes, she realized the stall at the far end was occupied, and she lowered her voice to a whisper before dragging me back out into the hallway. The story was like something from a movie, and I struggled to take it all in. When I learned Mrs. Jackson had decided to give Ali away at birth, I could hardly believe what I was hearing. How had she chosen which baby to keep? Did she just say, “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe” Surely, it couldn’t have been as simple as that? Was there something about Casey that her mother preferred? Did Ali cry more? Or was Casey easier to manage? How did their mom make a choice? It was impossible to comprehend. Then again, my mother didn’t want me either. Even though Ali was now reunited with her birth mom, could Ali and I have more in common than I thought?  Ronnie claimed she suspected something from the beginning. “When Ali walked into our classroom on her first day, I knew she and Casey were related!” Ronnie threw her hands in the air dramatically as she spoke. “It was sooo noticeable. They looked so alike!” “It must have been freaky,” I replied as I tried to picture the scene. “It was reaaaally freaky, especially when Ali wore her hair loose. That was when there was no denying it!” “I can’t believe their parents kept it from them!” I struggled to process the details.
