Marie nodded. Neil pressed “Direct Wormhole” and five pictures came up on the screen. The first picture was a green world with the word “Simia” underneath. The next picture was a blue world with silver rings, named Amphibios. The third planet was a brown world with a giant red slash stretching from its north pole to its south pole. It was “Cylosis.” Next was an icy planet, scored with mountains and canyons named “Glacies.” The last planet, Varillam, was the one that most resembled Earth. The planet had wispy white clouds with vast continents surrounded by azure oceans. Half of the planet was lit by a white sun and the other half was shrouded in darkness. Within the darkness, billions of city lights covered the surface.
Neil selected the photo of Simia and tapped the word “Initiate.” When he did, a blue laser shot from the device. The word “stabilize” pulsed. Neil tapped the screen and a timer started counting down from thirty seconds. Neil grabbed Marie’s hand. They investigated the glowing oblong singularity and saw a world covered in rainforest. In unison, they stepped through the singularity and in one step they left Earth and arrived on the jungle world. Neil stared back to where they came from. In the midst of the jungle, was his garage floating inside the singularity. He took a deep breath and watched the wormhole collapse.
