I used to think Pinterest was the Lady Gaga of social networks. (Without the dress shaped like an egg.)

That even though Pinterest was hip and popular and visually-engaging and was giving us a glimpse of what users would want to consume in the future…

It was also something that wasn’t designed for ME. (I don’t sell Prada purses or kitchen cabinet installations.)

But then the strangest thing in the world started to happen - I started making MONEY with Pinterest.

Real money. (With very little effort.)

That’s because:

Pinterest users GLADLY share advertorial images of products and services (with the price tag attached!)
Pinterest delivers more referring website traffic than LinkedIn, YouTube and Tumblr COMBINED…
Pinterest users BUY more often than users of other social networks. (And when they do BUY, they spend a hell of a lot more money than Facebookers and Twitterers combined.)

And though I was resistant at first -  like being dragged to “Bath and Body Works” by my wife - I swallowed my pride, and my inherent distrust of yoga photos, and jumped into the swirling vortex of Pinterest.

And, I made EVERY mistake a Pinterest marketer can make. (Most of which I will help you try to avoid.)

But, gradually, I started to NOT suck so badly. And what I found was a-stounding. Pinterest didn’t just boost my traffic. It:

Increased my sales

Boosted my email subscriber counts

Reduced product return rates

Cut down on customer support costs

Put me in contact with affiliates and JV partners

Created more leads (and more customers) than Facebook and Twitter

And that’s when it occurred to me: Pinterest’s appeal isn’t just pretty photos accumulated in a virtual scrapbook.
