When I began this, what can properly be called a mission of zeal in late 2000, I had no idea that it would transform into a published book; in fact I had no idea that it would even reach beyond the local church body of which I was a member. What has turned into a published book that has brought freedom and Biblical truth to many simply started as a letter of rebuke to the youth pastor of my local church.
I first dedicated my life to the Lord in this church, served as one of its youth leaders, was engaged in the preaching and teaching of the Word and even graduated from the denomination’s ministerial program (I refused to pursue my license however due to later found doctrinal differences including the one discussed in this very book).
However I finally came to the realization that one of this denomination’s core beliefs and heavily proclaimed doctrines, namely the doctrine of modern day tithing, was an entirely unbiblical doctrine of men.
While unquestioned obedience to the youth pastor was desired and spiritual abuse all to prevalent, I simply could not in good conscience stand by and listen as the teenagers involved in that youth group were told if they didn't give 10% of their paycheck, baby-sitting money, etc., to the church they were in fact cursed by God.
Furthermore the leadership of the church taught that if any individual member was not tithing every financial blessing he or she received was ultimately given to them by Satan. I could not stand by silently while such unbiblical and utterly satanic lies were being taught from the pulpit.
