Preface:

I wrote this booklet after working with many clients who wanted to practice meditation to stop overthinking, relax, or even have a higher level of consciousness. They found it hard and complicated to start this journey and to practice mindfulness.

In this booklet, I want to clarify that meditation is not difficult. I will describe many types of meditation practices that you can do anywhere and anytime you want to make it easy for you to practice meditation, not just for the sake of it but to have a higher level of awareness that will eventually lead to a happier, more fulfilling life.

Chapter One: What is Mindfulness?

Let us start by defining mindfulness.

According to the American Psychological Association, mindfulness is

"… a moment-to-moment awareness of one's experience without judgment. In this sense, mindfulness is a state and not a trait. While it might be promoted by certain practices or activities, such as meditation, it is not equivalent to or synonymous with them (APA, 2012)."
