Obsessed with his career, born to a domineering father, Francis, a work alcoholic millionaire recently gone bankrupt is on the brink of suicide. In order to figure out matters and ponder an upcoming divorce, he unintentionally finds himself at a faraway beach chatting with a total stranger called Astrid. Their conversation takes the shape of a lesson where Astrid helps him identify his real problems and sets him on a fresh course towards a happiness that actually was close at hand.
The last pages of the book offer the reader a surprising twist of fate.

I Remember that morning as if it were yesterday. Many years had passed since I had met her. The sleepy beach, almost free of any presence except for hers, the silently cuddly sun, the scenery, her face, her voice, her words, remain till this moment deeply carved in my memory.
Readily determined to finish once and for all with my problems, I had feverishly looked for an isolated place where I could calmly meditate before undergoing any action I could regret later on ..
