INFERNO by Lathish Shankar

What really happened that night?

A chilling psychological thriller where the making of a horror film uncovers a terrifying truth: the most haunting ghosts are the memories we bury.

Inferno

Award-winning actress Anabella Ozler has a secret: her celebrated horror film, Inferno, is based on a true story from her past.

Twelve years ago, on a stormy night, three lives collided in a tragedy that was never fully explained. A devoted wife, Salomi, claimed a phantom called "Death" caused the car crash that led her home to find her husband dead. The police called it an accident, but Salomi’s mind, fractured by grief, clung to a more terrifying truth.

A year later, unable to forget the woman’s suffering, Anabella and her filmmaker boyfriend Magnus embark on a daring project. They will film the events of that night, using the real locations and the dead man’s own diary, to help Salomi confront her demons. They call it "Project Inferno."

But as they recreate the past, they begin to unravel it. The line between reality and hallucination blurs. Was it an accident, a murder, or a descent into madness? The shadows in the old house seem to watch them, and the clues in the diary point to a horror no one could have imagined.

Inferno is a gripping psychological thriller that explores the ghosts of memory, the stories we tell to survive, and the terrifying price of uncovering the truth. Perfect for fans of slow-burn, mind-bending horror that lingers long after the final page is turned.

"Salomi? Love, are you alright?" he said, moving towards the staircase.

She didn't look at him. Her eyes were fixed on a point in the middle distance, wide with a fear he couldn't understand. She hugged herself, trembling. "I can't do this anymore," she whispered, her voice a broken thread of sound. "I see him everywhere."

"See who?" Justin asked, his worry growing. "Talk to me, please. You are scaring me."

But she walked right past him, as if he were made of air, her shoulder passing through the space where he stood. A cold, inexplicable shiver ran through him.

He followed her into the living room. She stood by the phone, her hand hovering over it. She was crying, silent tears tracing paths down her cheeks.

"No... please," she whispered into the receiver, her voice trembling. "Not now. I’m so scared. I’m all alone here."

Justin stared, bewildered. "Alone? Salomi, I’m right here! Who is that on the phone?"

She hung up abruptly and hurried towards their bedroom, leaving the door open. Justin followed, a silent, unseen ghost in his own home. She stood in the centre of the room, staring at her reflection in the dark window.

"It was an accident," she murmured to her own reflection. "It was just an accident. So why won't you leave?"

"An accident? What accident?" Justin's voice rose with frustration and a cold dread. "Salomi, look at me!"

She spun around, her eyes wide with a fresh wave of terror. She looked right through him. She let out a sharp gasp and stumbled back, as if seen something terrible.

"Who are you?" she breathed, her voice full of horror.

"It's me! Justin!" he cried out, stepping towards her.
