Book one of a fantasy epic novel series (Dragons Fall Trilogy) a coming of age fantasy novel.
Written in a stream of consciousness style... this is a fantasy I just had fun with and I cannot wait to write the next volumes as I explore themes of a collapsing civilization, a frantic government clinging to power, the loss of innocence and humor in the face of danger.
Genre: YOUNG ADULT FICTION / Fantasy / EpicNo current book sales or rankings. Standard novella size.
"She said what?!" Ino said, between licking an eye with his frog tongue.
"You would not enjoy the outcome should you fail me. Is what she said," Arseth recalled, half-jokingly, half dreading what was to come.
Ino and Arseth were in the King's Keep common areas cafeteria. Although Stormbane was a dragonling, and Ino was merely a support staff worker for the lower halls, they had quickly developed a long-lasting relationship in their youth; which had survived well into this day.
"Wooooowwwwwwwww! No kidding eh?" Ino said, laughing. He flicked his tongue towards a particularly scrumptious looking Tag-Maggot in the smorgasbord lineup, and with a satisfying gulp, swallowed it whole.
"You gotta try these Arseth!" Ino said, caught in a whirlpool of delight. He grabbed the entire tray and plopped it down on one of the stone tables, while a disgruntled short order chef screamed something about, "taking as much as you want, but leave the trays."
Arseth grabbed one and put it on his plate. Sparse it was today. Perhaps three broiled Byard bladders, a seganine leaf and his newly acquired Tag-Maggot filled his plate.
Arseth sat down dismissively, poking the contents of his plate while his friend lapped bushels of food, greedily into his croaking belly.
Ino was licking his plate when he finally realized Arseth hadn't taken a single bite.
"Arseth." Ino croaked, "You haven't even touched your Byard bladder! That's your favorite! You must be really hung up about what Eliza said, aren't ya?" He said, dropping the tray on the ground.
