Renting a pair of twenty-something bodies seems like the perfect final touch for Tom and Jean Smith’s dream cruise to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. And it is – until they get home to find their lives have been stolen.
Devastated, the Smiths seek help, only to find that this scam has drawn in a lot more people than they’d imagined. Now, it’s a race against time to find their bodies and recover their lives. Because if they don’t switch back soon, the change will be permanent. And fatal…
Genre: FICTION / Action & Adventure“What do you think, hon?” Jean Smith gave her husband of almost thirty years the look she had mastered in all that time. At fifty-three, Jean was still an attractive woman. Long, mostly brown hair, blue eyes. She kept her body in shape through a rigorous exercise regimen of walking and swimming. It had been thirty years and three children ago that she could wear a bikini, but she knew that she was still attractive. Her five foot nine inch height intimidated the elementary school students she had taught for twenty years, but she still had to look up to her husband.
“Jean, I just don’t know. It’s not like we are out of shape or ugly or anything. I mean, look at you - you are still fabulous!” Whereas Jean had her exercise regimen, Thomas Smith had kept his lean form through years of working in the construction and mining business. At six feet four inches, he still intimidated people around him. Even at the age of fifty-eight, he commanded respect. His intense blue eyes and chiseled facial features had been getting softer for the better part of fifteen years. He was clean-shaven; his morning ritual of a steaming hot shave followed by a cold shower was left over from when he was a mining foreman, getting up hours before the sun came up. He didn’t do that any more, but it was now ingrained into his personality. Jean’s hair was still mostly brown with gray encroaching; Tom was mostly gray even though his driver’s license still said brown. Since retiring from his job his midsection had gotten soft; his back and shoulders hurt more, but he had the confidence of a man who had paid his dues, and was enjoying the relaxation of retirement. But, after only two years of retirement he felt like a rag doll - frayed and threadbare.
