After ten months of marital bliss, Jessica Faraday and Murphy Thornton are still discovering and adjusting to their life together. Settled in their new home, everything appears to be perfect … except in the middle of the night when, in the darkest shadows of her subconscious, a deep secret from Jessica’s past creeps to the surface to make her strike out at Murphy.
When investigative journalist Dallas Walker tells the couple about her latest case, known as the Pine Bridge Massacre, they realize Jessica may have witnessed the murder of a family while visiting family at the winery near-by, and suppressed the memory.
Determined to uncover the truth and find justice for the murder victims, Jessica and Murphy return to the scene of the crime with Dallas Walker, a spunky bull-headed Texan. Can this family reunion bring closure to a community touched by tragedy or will this prickly get-together bring an end to the Thorny Rose couple?

“Someone is going to think I’m beating you up,” Jessica Faraday said, giggling as she lathered Murphy’s chest with a bath sponge.
Her voice coaxed him out of the ecstasy created by the combination of the steam bath and his bride’s body in his arms. Murphy Thornton opened his blue eyes and looked down to where she was petting the scratches on his shoulder. “Maybe because you are,” he said with a laugh. “You gave me those.”
Her smile dropped. She pulled away, out of his arms. “When?”
Murphy leaned his head back to rinse the shampoo out of his dark hair. Streams of hot water ran down the length of his body. “The other night. You must’ve been having another one of your nightmares. I woke up when you were clawing at me.”
“I don’t remember that.”
He ran his hands flat across his scalp to squeeze the water out of his hair. “You usually don’t. I woke you up. You stopped, rolled over, and went right back to sleep like nothing had happened.”
She laid her hand on the scratches that ran from his shoulder down to his chest. They were red and deep. “Looks like I drew blood.”
Taking her hand, he kissed her fingers. “I’m a man. I can take it.” He turned off the shower and threw open the door. “We need to get on the road if we’re going to be at your dad’s place in time for lunch.” After grabbing a towel from the rack, he proceeded to dry her off. Seeing sadness in her violet eyes, he stopped with the towel draped across her shoulders. “What?”
Once again, she brushed her fingertips across his wound. “How many other times have I hurt you, and you didn’t say anything?”
