During my years at the Facoulty of Foreign Languages (University of Turin) I had been studying the theories of translations from English into Italian and in 2012 I decided to specialize in the translation of novels, novellas and short stories . My first official work was "Il banchetto nuziale", translation of the black comedy The Wedding Feast, by J. Pidduck (UK), available on Amazon.it, which I used for my thesis in 2013.
I love reading and translating, and I think there's nothing as challenging and satisfying as translating a good book. A translator needs to be experienced, professional and accurate. My aim is to improve my translation skills as much as possible and the best way to do that is through experience!
By now I have translated the short novel "The Wedding Feast" by Pidduck J., the short story "A bridge of letters" by Duncan James, the book for children "We're gonna be famous" by Graham Sclater, the short story "Nailah, the Egyptian Vampire Sorcerer", "Zach's Secret" and four volumes of the manga collection "Jormungand", by Keitaro Takahashi.
I collaborate with Cafèbabel as a freelancer.
" I enjoyed working with Valeria Malacasa on the translation of my novel Zach's Secret. We had good two-way communication throughout the process. She promptly answered any questions I had. She also identified an American cultural point that would not be understood by Italian readers so we decided to eliminate it from the text. Another thing she did which I really appreciated was verifying something in the English version that she wanted to make sure was consistent throughout the novel" - - Matthew W. Grant, author of Zach's Secret
