Vakula Matha Temple is a sacred shrine dedicated to Vakula Matha, the foster mother of Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, Vakula Matha is believed to be an incarnation of Yasoda, the foster mother of Lord Krishna. In her next birth, she was granted the divine blessing to be the foster mother of Lord Venkateswara, who is worshipped at the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple.
