My name is Tamara and I come from Serbia. In this small country the learning system is very strict, so I have been able to speak and write English at a very young age. Afterward, I have tried Latin, German and Italian. Today I write and translate from Serbian/Italian/English. I graduated in Philology and literature in Belgrade and spend all my free time reading books.
At the moment I am trying to write something of my own and am delighted to be offered a chance to work with new writers and authors. I hope that one day my book will be translated as well. I prefer reading and translating novels, although I always wanted to try translating poetry.
Up until now, I have done several translations, but never a whole book. At my everyday job I only get to work on bureaucratic texts and accounting documents so translating artistic works and original stories is a breeze of fresh air.
I am open to any kind of collaboration and will always take in the account author's wishes. I am also happy to be working with fellow translators and learning from them. I am aware that the chosen words and figures give life to the story. Changing author's words and phrases is sometimes necessary but it also corrupts the original flow of the story. I always try to stay true to the text and allow it to take its course with a little bit of my help.
I hope your work finds its form and your words reach their destined path.
Kind regards from Serbia!
Tamara
