I am a portuguese native speaker. I've been in contact with the english language on a daily basis since I was a little girl, as my dad was a "movie buff" and my mom got tired of reading the subtitles to me after the third one...after that I was always top of my class, in a total of 12 years of school, which included a university degree in Languages and Business Relations.Throughout my studies I've tutored several colleagues that needed help with understanding and translating manuals in specific fields such as physics, mathematics, or IT. For my curricular internship I worked for 6 months in a Theatre Company translating and adapting dramatic plays, from playwriters like Tennessee Williams.
After my studies ended and ever since I have been tutoring children from the 5th to the 9th grade, helping adults that want to improve their converstion skills and also have translated several technical articles from and into english in the fields of applied medicine and sports.
I believe that the most important part of a good translation is to respect the full purpose and meaning of the original language the text was written in, but also not forgetting to adapt it in a way the readers of the translated text can understand and be able to relate to.
