Hello! My name is Sofiya, and I am a freelance translator and interpreter based in France.

I have been working professionally in translation and interpreting since 2018, providing language services in English, French, Ukrainian and Russian across legal, medical, administrative, humanitarian and institutional settings. Working in these highly demanding environments has taught me precision, cultural sensitivity and the importance of conveying not only meaning, but also tone, intent and emotion.

Literature has always been at the heart of my professional ambitions. Long before becoming a translator, I was an avid reader, particularly of fantasy, romantasy, historical fiction and contemporary novels. Today, my goal is to dedicate an increasing part of my career to literary translation and to help stories travel naturally across languages.

As both a translator and a writer, I understand the care that authors invest in every sentence. My approach goes beyond literal translation: I aim to recreate the rhythm, atmosphere and emotional impact of the original text while ensuring that the translation reads as if it had been written in the target language.

My working languages are French, English, Ukrainian and Russian. Being a native Ukrainian speaker and having grown up in a multilingual environment allows me to navigate cultural nuances with accuracy and authenticity.

In addition to my professional experience, I have studied foreign languages and law, which strengthened my research skills, attention to detail and ability to work with complex texts.
