Hi everybody,
I'm Silvia, an italian native speaker with 4 years of experience in the translation field. My area of expertise is the audiovisual translation, but my beloved field is the literary translation, even if it is so hard make a living from it.
In my free time I have translated a couple of novels and in the last four years I've been one of the translators for the Ostana - Scritture in Lingua Madre Award, an award for literature written into minority languages from all over the world.
Thanks to this award, I have the chance, each year, to translate into italian poets and writers who express themselves into minority languages. The first year I met Mehmet Altun, a contemporary Turkish/Kurdish poet. The second year I worked on the poems of Niillas Holmberg, a Saami poet and musician, and the third year I had the pleasure to translate Jun Tiburcio, a Tutunakú native speaker from Mexico. This year I translated the poems by Maria Clara Sharupi from Ecuador, and Tsead Bruinja from Netherland.
Now I'm working on the Italian version of The Way Back, a poetry anthology by Niillas Holmberg, already published by the English publishing house Francis Boutle Publishers.
So, guys, here I am, waiting for some good words to translate. Love and passion for this job are my engine
