My name is Sara Araújo Marques. I have graduated from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto with a degree in Applied Languages (a course dedicated to Translation and several areas related to it). The course was focused on two languages: English, which I speak and write at a C2 level, and Spanish, which I speak and write at a B2.2 level. I have also received an accreditation from the University of Cambridge, the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). In my course I have learnt the importance of using reliable sources to help improve the quality of the translation and I have brought that knowledge into my working life. In addition to this, I always keep in touch with the client throughout every job in order to have a better understanding of the product or subject to be translated.
I stated working as a freelance translator in February 2012, shortly after finishing my degree. My main priority was always quality and I was fortunate enough to work with companies such as Barclays, Dell, GE Healthcare, Google, Apple and Hyundai, just to name a few. I have also met many freelance translators and joined forces with them in countless projects.
It was thanks to these collaborations and a great project ordered by PC Medic in Portugal that, in February 2014, together with my husband, who was also looking for an opportunity to start a business in the IT area, we started Wisdom Group, a translation and IT company based in Maia, Portugal.
Since 2015, I have also been a full time collaborator at Amaya Inc., the company behind some of the well-known poker and casino websites in the world, including PokerStars.
