Breaking language barriers and bridging cultural divides

Ross hambelton

Hello, I'm Ross. I have experience translating different text types – including literary, journalistic and promotional – from Spanish to English and vice versa. I have experience transcribing, translating and subtitling English-language and Spanish-language content. Although I do not have as much experience translating literature as I do with other text types, I crafted an unpublished translation (approximately 10,000 words) of the Spanish novel 'La educación física' into English as part of my dissertation towards my master's degree in Translation and Professional Practice.

I am very passionate about bridging cultural gaps and bringing great work to new audiences, whether I'm subtitling videos, transcribing dictations or translating texts.

I maintain a firm grasp of the English and Spanish languages, as well as a deep understanding of proper sentence structure, grammar rules and vocabulary in both languages, by ensuring that I stay up to date with neologisms as well as current affairs in both Spain and the UK.

I have already built excellent relationships with clients, which has led to recurring requests for work across the lifecycle of their project. For example, a recent client of mine was very satisfied with my initial transcription and translation work, and following this, they requested my subtitling services to finish the project and has been in contact regarding further work since.

I am confident that you will benefit greatly from my skills and expertise.
