The eldest child of a middle-class family, I have a brother and a sister. My parents had a special care with our education, so I went to a public elementary school then attended a Catholic high school for girls in my hometown. Choosing a career was easy: I had to work with languages and cultures – and people! So I got a degree in Portuguese/English Language and Literature followed by a Masters Degree in Linguistics under a Fulbright Scholarship in the US and Specialization courses in TEFL and ESP (this one in England), and developed a career as a University Professor of English Linguistics and a Professional Translator.
Divorced, I have one son and a lovely daughter-in-law. Traveling, reading, watching good movies, documentaries and sports, listening to good music, keeping myself up to date with the development of this amazing world make my life rich and joyful.
Since retired as a University Professor years ago I have been working some ten hours every day with translation for leading translation agencies from the US and Europe. Among my translations covering a number of subjects and fields are a few books.
