Patty Smith (author)

I have just published my debut novel "The Jackal's Hare". It is the story of my life in Yemen as a young woman.

This particular book was inspired by my time in the Yemen and my father's work as a German spy. His work led to the capture of Carlos the Jackal's right hand man, Johannes Weihnrich. For over a decade, I have dreamt about this book and asked everyone else in my family to write the story. It never happened. I finally decided it was up to me to put it into words. I am a trained psychological counselor and my work with children in schools has taken away the time to write. In January, I made the leap, quit my job, and knocked out the novel. It has been published less than a week and I have had a steady amount of sales. Much of my family and friends live in Mexico and Germany though. I am asked to give them the story in their language. Hence, here I am.
