He lived in South Africa since 11 years, during the apartheid politic period.

He is also a defender of the Human Rights for the children orphans of one parent.

In 1996, Tonelli wrote and recorded a song for the orphans of one parent.
He also wrote a film about the orphans question and his film was presented in Press Conference at the Film Festival of Venice, in 1999.
It's from 1995, that Tonelli is censured from the italian press about the Human Rights questions for the orphans.

Tonelli wrote in Vatican and asked many times an audience with Pope, John Paul II, and Pope, Francesco.
But in Vatican they don't want to receive Tonelli in audience.
