I am a native (British) English speaker, working into English from French and German. I developed my language skills through the academic route, achieving a first-class BA Modern Languages degree (French/German/Mandarin) from the University of Birmingham. This was a four-year course involving multiple translation-based modules, as well as periods of study at the Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg and the Institut de Touraine.
Since graduating in 2015 I have been based in Beijing, China, where I work as a journalist and continue to study Mandarin. I am also a freelance translator (of the above language combinations) for TextMaster, having produced translations for clients including clothing companies, hotels, travel agencies and more. As part of this, I have been shortlisted as a trusted translator for future projects by several of the clients I have worked for.
I have a great love for the English language and aim to produce a thoughtful and accurate translation every time. During my time in China, I have done a great deal of editing/proofreading work, which has heightened my awareness of the importance of polished English and given me a fresh perspective on my own translations.

Author review: It was great to work with Nick. He has a nice writing style and his translation was good. Authors, who don't know much English and have no way to check, can trust him with their work. He even finished ahead of time. |
