I was born in a small city in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and naturally, Spanish was my first language. From the time I began going to school, my parents insisted my sister and I learn English and with little income, they made a private English education happen for us. Although I felt I commanded English well, I was faced with a real challenge upon moving to Florida at 13 and finding that while I technically spoke and wrote the language well, the social settings in the real world, particularly middle school, didn't follow the rules I'd learned.
At 13, I discovered the marvel that is vernacular and its unfathomable diversity. As an adult, I came to find that there weren't many translations, whether movies, books, articles, songs, etc., that could transmit and match the energy of Spanish to English and vice-versa. Many translations just seemed, well, for lack of a better phrase, off. Because of this, I soon became determined to begin translating myself and stand out by not just translating words which many people can do, but rather, going beyond that by doing something of equal if not more importance--capturing, transmitting, and staying true to the voice, energy, and intention of the author.
I now have over 5 years of experience translating and over 8 years of experience interpreting in various settings. I am excited to join this platform and look forward to working with you in taking your book global!
