My name is Mirna Espino.I am a 52 year-old Uruguayan teacher who has been fond of languages all of my life, in fact I have advocated more than half of my life to teaching languages. Despite the fact I have been a teacher of English and Spanish as a second language (ESL) and/or for specific purposes (ESP) in my country for 30 years, I am a person who likes to take risks and at this moment I am looking for challenges in my professional life.I have a degree in language teaching from one of the institutions in charge of courses for prospect teachers at official secondary institutions. To get this degree, students, not only need to have an excellent command of English but they also need to dedicate time to read deeply and get familiarized with the history of English speaking countries, English Literature, teaching Methodology, Syntax, Semantics, Phonetics and Phonology as well as other relevant cultural or educational topics. And I have successfully completed this course with high marks.I have also successfully taken some international exams (TOEFL - TOEIC) with score above average. As regards to my professional life, I have not only taught secondary students, I have also delivered ESP courses for prospect teachers on the areas of : Social Studies, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Tourism, Administration and Literature what gives me the possibility of reading regularly books, reports, documents referred to these disciplines in English.In addition to everything exposed above, I am an avid reader, enthusiastic about reading both in English and Spanish.I am also capable of communicating fluently in Portuguese since I have lived and also worked as a language teacher in Brazil in several opportunities.Due to my vast experience in language teaching and my deep affection for reading not only in my mother tongue but also in English and eventually in Portuguese, even though I do not hold any certification in translation courses , I am absolutely able of translating documents, books, reports, different kinds of texts regarding diverse topics from Portuguese into Spanish and English and from English into Spanish or from Spanish into English in an accurate and precise way.
