Michele Chynoweth (author)

Michele chynoweth

Michele Chynoweth is the author of novels The Faithful One and The Peace Maker.  She was recently awarded the Silver Medal for Inspirational Fiction in the 2014 Readers Favorite International Book Awards contest for The Faithful One. In addition, The Faithful One was also one of 10 books, out of the thousands submitted for the contest, to be selected for evaluation for movie production by Wind Dancer Films.

The Faithful One and The Peace Maker are both modern-day novels based on stories in the Old Testament. The Faithful One is a contemporary re-telling of the Book of Job, while The Peace Maker is based on the story of David and Abigail in the First Book of Samuel. Chynoweth is currently finishing a third novel, The Runaway Prophet, based on the Book of Jonah.

According to Ellechor CEO Rochelle Carter, Chynoweth is one of Ellechor’s top three best-selling authors. The Peace Maker reached number one on Amazon’s Kindle this past year, and together her books have sold over 40,000 copies. She is also a winner of the 2012 Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference Writer of the Year Award, and won the Maryland Writers Association Fiction Contest for Best Drama.

In addition to being a bestselling and award-winning author, Chynoweth is also an award-winning inspirational speaker. She won the 2013 Toastmasters International Area Award and has spoken to various organizations including church book groups, Rotary clubs and Chambers of Commerce, and college and universities classes, and she has given several writers’ workshops including one to the Lancaster (PA) Christian Writers Association.

Chynoweth feels she has been called by God to write modern-day “re-imaginings” of the Bible’s Old Testament stories, many of which are hard to read and interpret because they were written so long ago. Her novels contain the same drama, suspense and romance found in the Bible, and stay true to the stories themselves, yet are written with contemporary characters, settings and plots so that readers can not only enjoy the stories, but can better relate to them and better understand the messages God is trying to get across.

Prior to becoming a published author, Chynoweth was a news reporter, advertising agency owner and marketing director. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, the mother of five children and lives with her husband in North East, Maryland, where she enjoys trips to the beach, walking the dog, swimming and spending time with friends and family.
