I have a B.A. degree in French literature and cultural studies as well as a M.A. degree in Transnational Literature, Theatre and Film both of the University of Bremen, Germany. Right after I graduated in 2011 I moved to France where I worked as a German lecturer at the University of Avignon. I taught German conversation, literature and grammar to French students of the German Language program. Thanks to a DAAD grant I came to Czech Republic to work again as German lecturer at the Masaryk University of Brno. I gave German language classes at a high level (B2-C1) and also classes about contemporary transnational literature. Since 2015 I'm a translator in an IT company in Brno.
Translating was always a part of my carrier path. During my studies I translated scientific articles dealing with transcultural identities in contemporary French literature for my professors from French into German. When I came to Czech Republic I started translating a bunch of different kind of texts (CVs, motivation letters, marketing material, short stories) for friends or colleagues from English into German. During this time I realized I want to make translating my main profession. Today I'm working as a full time translator for a software company which sells en ERP software where I mainly deal with texts from the economic/IT/marketing industry. In addition to that I translate as a freelancer the interfaces and contents of English websites and apps e.g. Sygic Travel.
In my free time I read a lot of books and I write myself not only in German but also in English and recently in Czech. My aim is to combine my passion for literature and translating by translating books!
I command the German language very well and have a high level of expression and style which is essential when it comes to literary translating.
I'm also interested in sports (jogging, yoga) healthy food, baking, film, dogs education and the social sciences. To combine these interests with my desire to improve my translating skills I devote my free time to translating TED talks from these spectrum of interest from English or French into German.
Languages are my passion. I'm speaking German, English, French and Czech. Since I've lived abroad since 2011 (in France, USA, CZ) I'm constantly translating between cultures. This has made me very sensitive for cultural differences and for transmitting meaning from one language into another.
By choosing me for translating your book you can be certain that it is translated from someone who pays great attention to details and works both thoroughly and on a high stylistic level.
