Currently, I study Languages and work as a freelancer translator, having experience in both Medical and Social Sciences. I started translating back in 2013 and since 2016 I'm a full-time translator.
My background includes a Veterinary Medicine course, in which I have worked in several research projects. In Brazil, I worked in projects involving pathology and immunology, gaining some experience in laboratory work as well as in scientific writing. During one year, I was an Exchange Student at Ghent University and there I had the opportunity to work in the virology laboratory, doing some experiments with swine herpesvirus, an important model virus for human herpesvirus. In addition, I worked in a Nutrition experiment with sheep.
I did my Master Studies in animal nutrition, coordinated by Wageningen University, Netherlands. I grew more experience in laboratory work, besides handling animals and feed, during my internship at University of California, Davis, where I was responsible for planning and performing blood analyses from dairy cows, as well as coordinating undergraduate students in farm activities, supervised by Professor Ermias Kebreab. During this period, I also acquired skills in Data Modeling using R software, since I was working in the modeling laboratory from the Animal Science Department.
I did my thesis at Aarhus University, Denmark, about the use of hemp oil in the swine industry, to improve sow and piglet immune and nutritional status, improving further my knowledge in data analysis and scientific writing, besides learning the health and nutritional benefits of hemp oil and omega 3 fatty acids for animals and humans.
I am very keen to translating books in my field as well in other areas.
