Born in Setúbal, Portugal, in 1977, I've always been fascinated with language, music and nature.
I have worked as a freelance translator since 1999, and I'm fluent in Portuguese (native) and English, and I have a good understanding of French and Spanish, as well as some Italian.
I've translated poetry, short stories, articles, non-fiction book chapters and full books. The full books were either non-fiction (environment, liberal politics, education) or children's books.
I'm also an author, and I've written two non-fiction books, one on the Portuguese electoral system (Reciclemos o Sistema Eleitoral!, 2003) and the other one on the history of Portuguese Green organizations (Verdes Anos - História do Ecologismo em Portugal {1947-2011}, Esfera do Caos, 2011).
I also wrote the script of an award-winning documentary short called Setúbal, Cidade Verde, by Helena de Sousa Freitas, that tells the true story of how the early action of two high school kids helped shape the environmental movement in Portugal.
Speaking of films, I've been working for international film festivals since 2005, translating official information (bios, synopsis, etc.) and film subtitles.
Last but not least, I have a degree in Journalism and worked for many years as a journalist, covering sports, arts, politics, environment, media, IT and many other issues. I also have an MSc in Compared Politics and authored several articles about electoral reform and green politics.
