Hello, my name is Lohanie. I was born and raised in Brazil, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. In 2023, I moved to Japan, where I lived for two years. I currently live in the Cayman Islands.
My native language is Brazilian Portuguese. I am fluent in English, have advanced proficiency in Spanish, and intermediate proficiency in Japanese.
I hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature with a teaching certification. I also hold a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate issued by Arizona State University.
I have worked as an English teacher for children in schools in Japan and as a Portuguese teacher on online platforms.
My goal is to become a literary translator. Since childhood, one of my greatest passions has been reading. I also deeply enjoy writing and learning and teaching languages.
Currently, I am doing volunteer work translating fiction books in order to build a solid portfolio as a foundation for my career in translation.
